Local Area

Paignton is situated at the centre of Torbay in the heart of the English Riviera between Brixham and Torquay so is an ideal base to visit the entire Riviera which is noted for its mild weather. Throughout the season many events are held on Paignton Green next to the seafront including:

  • fun fair
  • donkey rides
  • regular motorbike gatherings every Wednesday evening from May (part of the BMAD season, see separate link below) where you can browse along the many bikes that are on display along the front and enjoy a hot pork sandwich into the bargain.  Great to see, motorbike enthusiast or not
  • firework displays
  • army displays
  • charity fetes.

Paignton

Just a very short stroll away is the long sandy beach which has been awarded the blue flag for its cleanliness.  Make sandcastles with the family, hire a pedalo or canoe (available during the busy summer season) or laze on the deckchairs and sun loungers that are also available for hire.  Take time out to stroll along the Pier and its amusements or visit the nearby harbour.  From there you can relax on a boat trip, or for the more active there is deep sea fishing.

Paignton Steam Railway

The Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway is very popular with a nostalgic ride on the steam train to Dartmouth, enjoying wonderful views along the way which you can finish off with the Dartmouth ferry link.
